Barcelona is a dynamic and chameleonic city that has been able to quickly adapt to global changes in order to satisfy tastes and customs of visitors from all over the world without ever losing the grip on its cultural roots (it is in fact the capital of Catalonia, an autonomous community of the eastern part of Spain). This unique ability of the Catalan capital to make guests feel at home, together with the temperate climate, the architectural ambitions, the folklore of the old town and an enchanting sea front, make it an ideal destination for an impromptu stay even in winter, short or long as it is. That’s why I chose Barça to greet Milan, changing air for a few days and going there looking for my Christmas gifts. The mild temperature immediately put me in a good mood warming my bones and heart as I strolled along the sea between dreamy yachts and glamorous bars. The sparkling atmosphere made me feel at ease, and this feeling of contentment and tranquility accompanied me for all 4 days also because this time I have been really lucky with the accommodation. I was able to enjoy an entire apartment, spacious and bright, in the center of the city. This is one of the suites of The Urban Suites Barcelona, a first choice hotel with a urban and contemporary appeal, which combines simplicity and practicality thanks to a modern and super comfortable furniture and a strategic location 2 steps from plaza de España and therefore all the most common transport for travel.
My Spanish “casita” was complete. A large bed with an open wardrobe, 2 beautiful mirrors (vital for a woman), a bathroom with a large shower, an open-plan lounge where you can watch TV or work on your computer with Wi-Fi and the kitchen where you can prepare tasty tapas or eat a pizza and drink some good wine with friends, I really had all the comforts that made me feel at home and I did not want to go away anymore.
However, when you are visiting a foreign city, it is nice to alternate homemade chilling evenings with night outs to appreciate the fervor of nightlife. With my travel companions we opted for a dinner with midweek drinks in the Gothic Quarter. Destination Palo Santo restaurant. It is a cozy and cosmopolitan restaurant in the historic center not far from the Rambla which offers a dynamic and international menu. The dishes, both traditional and not, are simple and tasty, suitable for all palates and for different meal occasions, from lunch to dinner throughout an aperitif. The care in the flatness catches the eyes even before the taste and it is impossible not to stop for a picture. The well-kept and modern environment is leveled on two floors. Ground floor the room looks towards a large bar where you can meet up for a social drink while downstairs a more ethnic atmosphere introduces a gathered and organized space where the chefs prepare the food with meticulousness under the eyes of the guests bewitched by the mastery as well as by the warm shades of the interior. The value for money allows you to keep the mood even at the end of the dinner then going to the restaurant becomes a moment of pure relaxation to be enjoyed several times a week.
